Those vendors charged steep per-terminal licenses, demanded recurring fees while extracting software profits straight out of Kashmir, and offered zero local support when network glitches or holiday rushes overwhelmed the counter. When printers jammed or sales didn’t reconcile, merchants were left on endless hold with distant call centers.
